Expert Insight: Is Nine Days Enough for Kenya and Tanzania?
Nine days is sufficient to combine Amboseli, Tarangire, Serengeti and Masai Mara, but the itinerary must be planned carefully. The longest road journey is between Tarangire and Serengeti, while flying from Serengeti to Masai Mara prevents another full day from being lost to border transfers.
For travellers interested in the Great Migration, accommodation should follow the seasonal location of the herds. From January to March, more time should be allocated to southern Serengeti. Between July and October, northern Serengeti and Masai Mara are generally better positioned for migration viewing.
Travellers who prefer slower transfers or additional relaxation time should extend the safari to 11 or 12 days.
